With the overwhelming rise of social media everyone has been stepping up their game, whether it’s about their personal branding — enter Instagram socialites — or just finding the right medium on sharing their artistic photography skills. As the years progress our phones are literally replacing a lot of technology we used to have. Well here is another one: with Moment 2.0 you won’t have to spend almost thousands of dollars on a bulky DSLR camera. Curious about what it is? Well, it is the world’s first battery case, photo case and cinema wide lens for your phone. Moment 2.0 has raised $538,282 US on Kickstarter with 3,693 backers. They are over their set goal with less than a month to go.
Using the battery case, you can shoot all day and not worry about your phone dying on you. The iPhone 7+ case ($79 US) carries 3500 mAh battery and the iPhone 7 carries 2500 mAh battery. What’s best about this is that the case is super thin with only 15.5 mm in total. You can also control the charging settings through the Moment App, so if you want to use the case but not charge your phone, all you have to do is turn it off. You can charge this Battery Case with an Apple phone charger.
The Photo Case is just a regular mountable lens case that adds 3 mm to the thickness of your phone. No charging, no electronics, just a plain case for those who love minimalism. The case provides a better grip for shooting. This case is for the iPhone 7 and 7+.
Just like a regular camera, while using the Moment App, when you press the shutter button it locks onto the subject, and once you fully press it, it captures the photo. Holding down the shutter button will capture the moment in burst mode. The difference between the first Moment Case and the new one is that they have removed the Bluetooth shutter button and replaced it with a lightning connector which makes the shutter button 75% faster.
Moment 2.0 has matched iPhones larger aperture and made their lenses a little bigger. The all-glass aspheric lens maintains the sharp image that we always long for in our photos. A larger lens also means no dark corners in the photos as well. You can use the lens with any phone or tablet that they have created a case for which includes Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note, Nexus and iPad Mini. Cases start at around $25 US on Kickstarter depending on the phone model and increase with add-ons such as lenses.
