When it comes to hanging art on the wall, there’s plenty of digital picture frames out there which enables you to.
Joto is the world’s first connected display that draws with a pen and can be hung on the wall like a standard picture frame. Joto is controlled via the Joto app which runs on computers and mobile devices. With the app, users can discover, create, and share what the developers refer to as jots.
There are a few ways users can input information for Joto. There’s drawing (via their finger, stylus, or tablet); writing, using the keyboard; and downloading via a project called The 365 Days of Art. Through this program, Joto users get 365 unique pieces of art with their purchase, each created by a top illustrator. Some of the artists include the likes of Anthony Burrill, Supermundane, Ben the Illustrator, Will Scobie, Mr. Bingo, Jon Burgerman, and Thomas Hedger among others.
In addition to the built-in creation capabilities, there’s also going to be a companion API so that the device can work with services such as Trello, Slack, Google Calendar, Twitter, Amazon Alexa, and Spotify, among numerous other solutions.
Joto is intended to be more than a tool to create art, however. The developers list several practical examples including a family to-do list in kitchens, an updatable menu in a café or restaurant, and or a noticeboard in the workplace. The built-in scheduling functionality means it’s easy to have the device fit the user’s needs, whatever they might be. The built-in Jot to Jot messaging capability also means users can scribble on their Joto device from anywhere they have an internet connection.
Joto is made up of a pen, eraser, a board, and some simple robotics. The key parts are a balance of form and function, the surface is designed to be lightweight and easy to clean, and the pen and eraser attachment are maneuvered via a mechanical arm.

Joto is sized 390mm x 505mm x 120mm, is powered by a 24V DC connection, and supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
In addition to being an innovative device, Joto also won an award – the Beazly Design of the Year Public Vote at the Design Museum, back in February.
So far the makers of Joto have raised over $267,000 via crowdfunding with an estimated shipping date of December 2017. Pricing for Joto standard starts at $199, which includes a Joto, refill stick, PSU, and a hall of fame mention.
