Rem-Fit recently developed a line of products designed to enhance your sleep, one of which is the ZEEQ Smart Pillow. The device streams music, interrupts snoring, and helps users sleep smarter. Rather than just being another gadget, ZEEQ is an active participant in the user’s sleep and responds based on the data it collects, analyzes and displays in its companion smartphone app. So far the Zeeq Kickstarter campaign has raised over $200,000 on a $50,000 goal and they still have more than a month to go.
ZEEQ helps users fall asleep by allowing the user to listen to music through the pillow while choosing tracks from their favorite sources. The pillow is currently compatible with a handful of major services including iOS Music, Android Music, and Spotify. There’s also ZEEQ sleep tracks with binaural beats. Although the effect of binaural beats isn’t well understood, one study found that they can increase a user’s feeling of relaxation.
ZEEQ’s “smart” qualities go well beyond music. If the pillow recognizes snoring, it gently vibrates to encourage a new sleeping position. Additionally, the natural sleep movements are recorded and used to wake up the user at the ideal moment in their sleep cycle so groggy mornings become a thing of the past.
ZEEQ has a companion mobile app that enables the user to see and track their sleep data including a “Snore Score.” There is support for tracking exercise, diet, and other habits, in order to see how they all affect the user’s sleep. Users can also use the app to control the audio volume and vibration intensity of the pillow.
ZEEQ is 21” x 27,” which is a standard pillow size. It’s made from a Tencel pillowcase, memory foam outer shell, and comfort filling. The 5000 mAh battery is engineered to last an entire week on a single charge. Other built-in mechanisms include a 3-Axis gyroscope, vibration motors, individual decibel tuned microphone, and 8 precision placed speakers.
According to the Kickstarter page:
“ZEEQ was designed to be used like a normal pillow. You can flip ZEEQ over, hug ZEEQ, squeeze ZEEQ and even ‘fluff’ ZEEQ. ZEEQ is also designed so it can be folded, but we don’t necessarily recommend it.”
The second round of early bird pricing is $129 for one pillow or $289 for a couple’s pack. The MSRP for ZEEQ is $299 while the couple packs have an MSRP of $398. There’s also a bonus pack for $199 which includes the ZEEQ smart pillow and an REM-FIT sleep & activity tracker.
The sleep and activity tracker enable the user to track distance, steps, and calories burned. There’s also an Active Points system that analyzes the intensity and duration of activities, so that the more active a person is, the more points they receive.
While many of these features exist in other apps and wearable tech, ZEEQ is the first to bring them all together into the one place literally right under your nose.
