While the desire for improvement beats in every living heart, wishing never brings about intended results (trust me, I have tried). For most people, intention is not strong enough to motivate to action. Dreaming about success produces a temporary feeling of bliss but keeps many staying in their comfort zones. Going beyond is a place few desire to go. The journey to achieving a goal seems difficult, fraught with pitfalls along the way. Results are never guaranteed. A bi-weekly paycheck is the lifestyle most of us settle for. In order to better understand this process, I reached out to my network of influential leaders for some insight. This is what I discovered.
Your Right to Succeed
As a living being on a higher plane than animals you have the right to succeed in whatever you set your mind on. Success is your birthright, not the domain of a chosen and wealthy few. Far from being helpless, you have all the skills you need to achieve your level of success at this moment in time.
A Planned Destination
Nothing is ever achieved unless there is a plan that outlines every step necessary to reach every goal. No one, of course, can do the grunge work for you. Your goals are exclusively yours, so you must plan every step and accomplish something every day no matter how small that step may be. The more devotion you put toward your goal, the better your chances of success.
Your Inner Circle
Motivation is a key for success. Associating with people who have drive helps keep you on the path to your destination. Napoleon Hill in his classic: Think and Grow Rich referred to this as having a mastermind group where members support and help each other reach their goals. Key people keep you focused. Negative minded people drag you down.
Your Outlook
The media broadcasts the latest news on violence, killings and fraud perpetuated by those in authority. Unfortunately, this kind of negative bombardment has effectively dulled the minds of the masses so they see little hope or potential in their futures. Looking for opportunities and keeping a positive mindset will produce results.
A Burning Desire
The best of intentions will not lead you anywhere without a desire that keeps you moving forward. A bi-weekly paycheck provides security, but won’t improve your future. Clever media advertising has brainwashed many into believing that anything can be acquired easily without the need to implement a burning desire. Just spend on credit, so the ads tell you, and everything is yours. What they don’t tell you is that you will own a great deal of debt too.
Being Content
Credit was unknown generations ago. Wealth and security was achieved through effort. Despite the lack of technological advancement, our forefathers found inner contentment while they worked to achieve goals. They enjoyed what they paid for in full. Today’s generation looks for instant gratification. This kind of thinking enhances greed, selfishness and misery.
While I may not have everything I want, I can be happy with the knowledge that if I apply the right rules, I will eventually have everything my heart desires.
